Create a plan and identify funding for dynamic reef development to support the commercial, charter and recreational fishing and diving industries that are vital to our local economy. A growing concern prior to Hurricane Michael, the storm critically damaged many of the existing reefs and accelerated the need for a comprehensive plan to develop and responsibly manage a robust reef system, and a funding strategy that supports long-term maintenance and expansion.

As the number of visitors to our fisheries grows, so does the need to expand the reef resources to keep pace with the growing recreational and charter requirements. This project will stimulate the local economy with increased visitation by divers and anglers and improve the quality of life and experience for residents and visitors.

This project fits into a comprehensive revitalization plan for the Grand Lagoon designed to build a vibrant and strong community that supports economic prosperity and better quality of life for those who live, work and play in the Grand Lagoon. .
